Rob Predicce’s journey into funeral service began with a profound loss that shaped his career and life. In 1997, at the age of 20, Rob tragically lost his mother in a car accident. “She was my rock, my biggest supporter,” Rob recalls. The devastation led him to explore death care, and through an acquaintance, he met a retired funeral director who shared his experiences of compassion and service. Inspired by these conversations, Rob decided to change his career path to Mortuary Science.

Despite Nebraska’s lack of a mortuary school, Rob took pre-mortuary classes and researched schools out of state. His Aunt Wanda, a selfless woman, offered him the opportunity to live with her in Maryland while attending mortuary school. In 2002, Rob moved to Maryland, balancing work at Singleton Funeral Home, a second job transporting decedents, and full-time study. He graduated with honors in 2004 from the Community College of Baltimore County with a degree in Mortuary Science.

While working for Singleton Funeral Home, Rob met his wife, Ashley, during the passing of her grandfather. After exchanging numbers at the funeral, the couple quickly became inseparable. They married in 2008 and settled in Shrewsbury, PA, after the birth of their son, Preston. Rob commuted 84 miles daily to work for George P. Kalas Funeral Home, and after four years, he took a position at a closer funeral home in New Freedom, PA.

Rob's career took a significant turn when he learned of an opportunity to purchase Geiple Funeral Home in Glen Rock, PA. This historic funeral home had been family-owned since 1880, and Rob admired the dedication of Glenn Geiple, the fourth-generation owner, to serving his community. After years of negotiations and adapting to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Rob took ownership of Geiple Funeral Home on December 3, 2020, renaming it Geiple-Predicce Funeral and Cremation Services. Rob is honored to continue Glenn’s legacy of compassion and care, providing families with the utmost respect and dignity during their most difficult times.

Rob and Ashley have three children: Preston, Lawson, and Aria. The family is involved in various activities, from sports and music to competitive cheerleading, gymnastics, and dance. Rob credits Ashley’s parents, Mark and Carolyn Zick, for their unwavering support in helping balance family life and career.

Ashley Predicce, now a Nurse Manager for the Float Pool at Johns Hopkins, has been a dedicated healthcare professional since 2007. She has spent years working in the ICU and during the pandemic, she cared for critically ill patients in a COVID unit. At the height of the crisis, she not only provided essential medical care but also emotional support to families who couldn’t be present. Recently, Ashley earned her Master’s degree in Nursing Administration from Notre Dame of Maryland University.

The pandemic presented immense challenges for both Rob and Ashley. Rob reflects on the difficulty of seeing families unable to visit their loved ones in the hospital or attend funeral services. To adapt, Rob and his team found creative solutions, such as online document signing, virtual viewings, and FaceTime calls, offering families a way to experience closure during such unprecedented times.

Rob’s perspective on his work is clear: “While it can be difficult, I see it as a way to help those who can no longer care for themselves and offer comfort to families, knowing their loved ones are being treated with respect in both life and death.” He is deeply committed to continuing to provide compassionate care to families for generations to come.

Funeral Director

Being the fourth generation licensed funeral director in the Geiple Family, it is an honor for me to be associated with the Geiple-Predicce Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. This association provides me the opportunity to continue something that I did for almost all of my life. I received my Pennsylvania Funeral Director's License in 1977. In early 1992, I purchased the business Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. from my father. I operated the business for 28 years. As I thought about my future and what I wanted to do, I decided to sell the business to Rob Predicce in 2020. I felt very comfortable selling my family's 140-year-old business to Rob, knowing that he would continue operating the business in similar ways that had become a tradition of the Geiple Family. I am very proud to be associated with the Geiple-Predicce organization and be able to continue to assist with the many families that we serve.

Mark Zick, originally from Severna Park, MD, has been a valued member of the Geiple-Predicce team since January 2022. Known affectionately as "PeePaw" by his grandchildren, Mark retired in December 2022 but quickly decided he wasn’t ready for a quiet life of leisure. Instead, he joined his son-in-law Rob at the funeral home, where he was tasked with renovating and updating the facility. His efforts led to the creation of the Event Center, now a welcoming space for after-service luncheons. Mark enjoys taking on new projects and seeing them through from beginning to end, constantly finding fulfillment in the work.

Mark has been married to Carol (Micciche) Zick for 47 years, and together they have three daughters. In 1993, they moved to Shrewsbury, PA, to provide better opportunities for their family, and in 2019, they relocated to Red Lion.

Outside of his contributions to the funeral home, Mark enjoys attending his grandchildren’s activities and games. He also finds relaxation behind the wheel of his Corvette, a well-earned retirement gift after a 45-year career with US Foods.

Mark takes great pride in watching how the funeral home has evolved under Rob’s leadership. Seeing the positive impact it has on the community and the families they serve fills him with pride, and he is honored to be part of the Geiple-Predicce team, helping shape its future.
