William D. Soop

William D. Soop York William D. “Bill” Soop, 81, of York, PA died September 18, 2015, at his home. He is survived by his wife, Susan Bradfield, with whom he shared 25 years. Bill was born in Lanesboro, PA, son of the late James Taylor Soop and the late Frances Corinne (Thomas) Soop. He leaves two sons, Randy Soop and his wife Kathy of Ellicott City, MD and Rob Soop and his wife Tammy of Mt Wolf, PA. He was known as “Papa” to his seven grandchildren, Lauren Dettorre and her husband Nick, Kaitlin, Conor, Shanon, Devin, Ryan and Christian Soop. Bill is survived by his two brothers, Donald Soop of Berkshire, NY, Jim Soop of Santee, CA and his sister, Mary Stapleton of Venice, FL. Bill served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. His adventurous personality took him many places in the US and abroad. His sales career was in the food service industry. The last fourteen years he has owned Papa’s Kettle Korn, where he traveled to festivals across five states. He was happy picking out his latest bow tie, tending his rose garden and ballroom dancing, especially the Argentine Tango. Bill loved to cook and enjoyed staying up to date with health and fitness. There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial at the convenience of the family. It would be enjoyable if friends and family would send anecdotes about Bill to Susan Bradfield of York, PA.
