William A. Groth

William A. Groth, Jr. Shrewsbury William A. Groth, Jr, 84, of Shrewsbury, died Tuesday April 14, 2015 at The Brunswick of Longstown, York, PA. He was the husband of Kathleen M. (Byrne) Davidson with whom he celebrated a 30th wedding anniversary on April 5th. Following cremation a service will be held at the convenience of the family. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Groth was born on February 4, 1931, in Baltimore , MD and was a son of the late William A. Groth, Sr. and Victoria (Mitchell) Groth. William was a U.S. Navy Korean War Veteran. He had a Masters Degree in Education Administration from the University of Maryland. He retired in 1983 from the Baltimore County Board of Education, as Principal of Sparks Elementary School, after 30 years of employment. William was a proud farmer in the Potosi area and Springfield Township for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Paul “Hametown” Lutheran Church, Glen Rock, PA. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Leslie Rollins of King Williams, VA, and Molly Groth of Harrisonburg, VA; two sons, William A. Groth III of Perry Hall, MD, and Tim Groth of New Freedom, PA; two grandchildren; four great grand children; and a brother Winfred A. Groth of Baltimore, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
