William A. "Bill" Ehrman

July 31, 1947 — May 30, 2023

Our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend, William "Bill" Allen Ehrman, 75, residing in Jacobus, PA went to his heavenly home on May 30, 2023. After an unexpected, lengthy stay at Wellspan, York, PA and fighting like the warrior he was, he succumbed to his illness at 2 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Bill was a York county native, born and raised in Glen Rock, PA by his father, the late Charles G. Ehrman and his mother, the late Gladys N. Stermer Ehrman. Also preceded in death were both paternal and maternal grandparents.

Never moving far and settling in neighboring town, Jacobus, Bill married his lifelong partner and best friend, Linda K. Becker Ehrman. August 8, 2023 they would have celebrated 53 years of marriage. Together they built a beautiful life and were blessed with two daughters. Amy L. Ehrman Jones, his eldest, married Norman E. Jones of Mt. Wolf, PA, and Krista E. Ehrman Shorts married Brian K. Shorts of Jacobus, PA. Bill gained two sons through marriage and was an amazing mentor and father figure.

More than anything he was so proud to be called Pap by his grandchildren, Adan W. and Allyson R. Jones and Kameron G., Miley I., Madden E. Shorts as well as a "bonus" grandson, Ty H. Jackson. They were all his pride and joy and he soaked up every minute he could with them. They equally shared that love and bond.

In later years, Bill and Linda gained an addition to their family and quickly she too became Bill's forever friend and sidekick. Lottie Mae, his St. Bernard pup, brought so much excitement and happiness to his everyday life.

Even as a young boy, Bill was actively involved in serving his community. He spent many years climbing the ranks and received the highest honor of becoming an Eagle Scout. His steadfast drive, commitment and responsible attitude developed at an early age and would continue for a lifetime. A graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a B.A. in Parks and Recreation would aid him in earning a job at the York County Solid Waste Authority. What began as a first job and a stepping stone turned into a 32 year career as the Executive Director. Bill had many accomplishments throughout those years, but the most noteworthy is the significant role he played in the orchestration and development of the Incinerator. After retiring from the Authority in 2008, he wasted no time and began a partnership with his "son" and Masterstaffing, LLC. was born. It was both humbling and rewarding for him to have this opportunity to mentor and help others in their time of need.

In 2020 Bill decided to fully retire and slow down the pace. His zest for life continued throughout his retirement years as he enjoyed all things PSU football, westerns and visits to Wellsboro and Benezette to explore nature in all its glory.

Bill always had a love for all styles of music but he was most proud to be a member of the Glen Rock Carolers for an impressive 59 years. He looked forward every year to such a special Christmas Eve tradition.

Bill's Christian faith was an essential part of his life. He participated in many ministries at his longtime home church, St. Peter's, Seven Valleys, PA. He took each role that he played within the church seriously and worked diligently to serve his Lord.

Most importantly, not only was Bill a man of God, a loyal friend and a faithful family man, he was the backbone to his family. His absence will be unequivocally felt.

A private graveside memorial will be held Monday, June 5, 2023. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in his name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, a worthy charity that touches the lives of countless sick children and a cause that he held close to his heart. Additionally, donations also can be made to St. Peter's Church, building fund.

He was an amazing man, operating with grace and integrity and a blessing to all who were lucky enough to know him. He will remain forever in our hearts.
