Virginia L. Coffman

Virginia L. (Bortner) Coffman, 86, of Glen Rock, died Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at the York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Earl E. Coffman. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday December 5, 2017 at St. Jacob's Lutheran Church, 3444 Sticks Road, Glen Rock, with her pastor, the Rev. Paula Murray, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Jacob’s Stone Church Cemetery. Viewings will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Mrs. Coffman was born September 11, 1931, in Glenville, a daughter of the late Ralph A. and Janet E. (Ehrhart) Bortner. Virginia was a member of the St. Jacob's Lutheran Church, Glen Rock and a former member of St. John Lutheran Church, Mt. Wolf. She was a former councilwoman for the democratic party in Mt. Wolf. Virginia enjoyed shopping, eating breakfast at Papertown, and playing and cheating at dominos. She was a very loving mother and grandmother, who will be greatly missed by all her family. She is survived by a son, Keith E. Coffman and his wife, Diane of Seven Valleys; four daughters, Gail D. Roberts and her husband, Gary of Mt. Wolf, Beverly E. Plowman of Pleasureville, Pamela A. Hershey and husband, Scott of Mt. Wolf, and Denise L. Smith and her husband, Edward of Spring Grove; 16 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter; a brother William Bortner of York New Salem; and her beloved Dog Maggie. She was preceded in death by a grandson Gary E. Roberts, Jr.; a sister Janet “Betty” Grafton; and four brothers, Gordon, Gerald, Dwight, and Ralph Bortner.
