Val Anthony Schissler Glen Rock Val Anthony Schissler, 58, of Glen Rock, died of natural causes, Friday February 7, 2014 at York Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Juliana L. (Yingling) Schissler, with whom he celebrated a 29th wedding anniversary this past May 12th. A funeral liturgy will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday February 12, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, (New Church) 315 N. Constitution Ave., New Freedom, with the Rev. Fr. Joshua R. Brommer officiating. Interment will follow the service at St. John the Baptist Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock, with a prayer service being held at 7:00 PM and from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Wednesday at the Church. Val was born on November 26, 1955 in Hagerstown, MD a son of Glenroy C. Schissler, Jr. of Glen Rock and the late Rita (Bosse) Schissler and a step son of Mary Anne Schissler. He was a talented woodworker and restorer of old houses, barns, and out buildings and was a model train and railroad enthusiast. He was the loving father of Valerie Alyse Rusiewicz and her husband Joseph of Pittsburgh, PA,, Spc. Christian A.W. Schissler of Ft Campbell, KY; grandfather to Patrick and Ian; and brother to Jacqueline S. Kaifer of Stewartstown, Teresa E. Vitz of Red Lion, Glenroy C. Schissler III of Baltimore, Ronald C. Schissler of Red Lion and Kenneth S. Schissler of York. Memorial Contributions may be made to a charity of your choice, in his name. Condolences may be shared at geiple.com.
