Terry M. Copenheaver

August 4, 1940 — May 20, 2013

Terry Max Copenheaver York Terry Max Copenheaver, 72, of York, passed away May 20th, 2013 at York Hospital after several months of illness. He was the loving husband of Donna R. (Bailey) Copenheaver. They were married on February 1, 1963 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past February. Max was born in Hanover on August 4, 1940 and was a son of the late Charles W.O. and Geraldine M. (Leader) Copenheaver. He graduated from William Penn High School in 1959 and was a veteran of United States Air Force during Vietnam, serving as a radar/doppler specialist with the Strategic Air Command (SAC) 7th Bomb Wing. A Master Plumber, he began his plumbing career in 1959 and since 1985 had owned and operated R.D. Heller, Inc., York with his wife and sons. He was a member of the Mercedes Benz Club of America, the National Train Collectors Association, the York Economic Alliance and the York Heritage Trust. His many interests and hobbies included slot cars, scale model building of rockets, model trains for his garden railroad, radio-controlled toys of all kinds, latest high-tech gadgets, scuba diving and traveling with his wife. His latest passion for the last ten years was building from scratch a replica model of a steam engine, which his son Bart will finish in honor of his Dad. Our family was so very blessed to have him in our lives as husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Besides his wife he also leaves, three sons, Baron M. Copenheaver and his wife Libby of York, Barton W. Copenheaver of York New Salem, Royce T. Copenheaver and his fiancée, Trinell Hartranft; two grandchildren, Hannah E. Copenheaver, a recent honors graduate of York College and Maxwell B. Copenheaver, a Junior at Spring Grove High School, and a granddaughter, Violet, due to be born in July 2013; two brothers, Barry Copenheaver and his wife Linda of York, Timothy Copenheaver and his wife Peggy of Winterstown; two sisters, Christine Ziegler and her husband Ted of Wellsville and Trudy Parthree and her husband Steve of Dover; twelve nephews and seven nieces; sisters-in-law Patricia Copenheaver, Louise Copenheaver, Christine Goodling and her husband Kenny and brother in law, Jere Walker and his wife Marsha. He was predeceased by two brothers, Charles “Sonny” Copenheaver and Zane Copenheaver. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock. Burial will in Trinity (Reformed) U.C.C. Cemetery, Glen Rock. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 AM, Saturday at the funeral home. Serving as Pall Bearers will be Baron, Bart, Royce, Barry, Tim and Maxwell Copenheaver and Russ Goodling. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Patient Help Fund, Suite 194, 25 Monument Road, York, PA 17403.
