Stuart L. Smith York Stuart L. Smith, 82, of Senior Commons York, who was formerly of Jacobus, died Tuesday March 15, 2016 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary L. (Bollinger) Smith. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Friedensaal Lutheran Church, 9138 White Church Road, Seven Valleys, with his pastor, the Rev. Margareta M. Breden, officiating. Burial will be in in the church cemetery. A Viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Mr. Smith was born in Springfield Township on April 16, 1933, a son of the late Elmer and Goldie (Lehr) Smith. He retired from Caterpillar York, where he was employed as a Parts Handler for many years. He also had mounted Deer Antlers and did custom re-loading for many local hunters. He was a member of Friedensaal Lutheran Church, where he was a member of the Sunday school, a past Council Member and served on various other committees. He also was a member of the Austin Costello Sportsmen’s Club in Potter County and a former member of the Jefferson Sportsmen’s Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed gardening and going to his hunting camp, Sunset Camp, in Potter County. Stuart also leaves a daughter, Melissa A. Ruth and her husband Randy; a son, Andrew M. Smith and his wife Shannon, all of Spring Grove; two granddaughters, Maddie Ruth and her husband Sam Graulty of Richmond, Vt., Emma Wheedleton and her husband James of York; and a sister. Arlene Davis of Seven Valleys. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friedensaal Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 9138 White Church Road, Seven Valleys, PA 17360.
