Stewart C. Bankert Hanover Stewart C. "Stu" Bankert, 73, of Hanover, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday August 8, 2017, at Hanover Hospital, after a 13 year courageous battle against cancer. He was the Husband of Shirley A. (Myers) Bankert, with whom he celebrated a 53rd wedding anniversary on June 20th. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday August 11, 2017 at Victory Baptist Church, 25 Breezewood Drive, Hanover. Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover. Viewings will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday at the church and from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Friday at the church. The Geiple Funeral Home Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, is in charge of the arrangements. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Jason Myers. Mr. Bankert was born on March 19, 1944 in Hanover, a son of the late Roy J. and Pauline R. (Warner) Bankert. He retired from Doubleday & CO., Hanover after 41 years; working as a dock worker, warehouse manager and an over the road truck driver. Stewart was a handyman who enjoyed working on cars and he could fix anything. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church and was a dedicated soldier of the Lord. In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Dean Bankert and his wife Rena of Hanover; two grandchildren, Rebekah and Shane Bankert; two grand-dogs, Pepsi and Lady; a sister Thelma Wonder and a brother Clyde Bankert both of Glenville. He was preceded in death by a brother Levi Bankert; and two sisters, Lavonna Sterner and Janet Yingling. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions maybe made to American Cancer Society, 924 N Colonial Ave, York, PA 17403, or to Victory Baptist Church, 25 Breezewood Drive, Hanover, PA 17331.
