Sonia graduated from Kennard-Dale high school in 1980. Later in life she went back to school and received her associates degree from Elizabethtown College in 2015. It was hard work for her which wasn't something she wasn't used to. She always taught us to work hard. We were all so proud of her for this accomplishment.
Sonia was an accountant for South Eastern School district before her son was born. Then returned and worked in the cafeteria. She then moved on in her career to do accounting for other companies.
Sonia was always busy and full of life. We were working on our bucket list of all the things she wanted to do. Some of the things we got to do were going to a drive-in movie theater, going to a lantern festival, traveled to different states. Memories of crossing over into Wildwood, NJ and always looking for the Ferris wheel, every year getting pictures. Always dressing up for Halloween parties, having the best costume ideas. Tons of treasured memories.
She had a passion for yard sales and traveling. Every chance she got she was going to yard sales. She'd always have them mapped out. She met a lot of her friends thru yard selling.
There's a lot of good people could say about her. One of the best things I got to call our mother was my best friend. Sonia was a vibrant and outgoing person who loved to dance and spend time with her family. She was always the first one on and off the dance floor. Didn't matter what song was playing she was out there doing her thing dancing the night away. One song that always comes to mind for her to dance to was Wipeout. She'd hop up on the dance floor even when no one else was there and dance like nobody was watching, teaching us to never fear what anyone else was thinking. She also taught us how to love. She was always there when you needed her and loved us all unconditionally. She was the glue to our family. We all loved her so much, there will definitely be a missing piece in all of our hearts. Like we always used to say "Love you More."
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in honor of Sonia A. Orwig. If you would like to come and share her memories. She will be deeply missed by everyone that knew her.
