Sheldon H. Lipsitz

Sheldon H. Lipsitz, 87 of York, died Sunday May 28, 2017 at York Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Phyllis A. Lipsitz with whom he celebrated a 21st Wedding Anniversary this past October 29th and the late Harriette (Wasserman) Lipsitz. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Ohev Sholom Congregation at Temple Beth Israel, 2090 Hollywood Drive, York, with Rabbi Jeffrey Astrachan, officiating. Burial will be in South Hill Hebrew Cemetery. There will be no viewing. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Lipsitz was born on April 29, 1930 in York and was a son of the late David K. and Esther (Cohen) Lipsitz. He owned and was CEO of his family business the former American Bag and Barrel Company in York until his retirement in 1988. He was a member and past president of the Ohev Sholom Congregation, York and served on the Board and as President of South Hill Hebrew Cemetery Association for many years. He was also a member of the Jewish Family Services of York, the York Jewish Community Center and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. He also was a member and past President of the former Exchange Club of York. Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Lynn G. Rohrbaugh of York Haven, Deann E. Tag of York, two sons, Edwin L. Lipsitz of York and Mark A. Lipsitz of Dover; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and a sister Evelyn Stern of Flemington, NJ. He was predeceased by two grandchildren.
