Sarah L. Sieling York Sarah L. Sieling, 99, of York, died Saturday November 30, 2013 at Misericordia Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late James Sieling, Jr. Private graveside services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Glen Rock. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., Glen Rock, is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Sieling was born in Glen Rock on July 8, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Matthew Guy and Rosa Edna (Diehl) Lentz. She graduated from Glen Rock High School in 1931 and West Chester State Teachers College. She also attended Pennsylvania State University and Duke University, Durham, NC. Mrs. Sieling was an elementary teacher in the York County schools. She taught first grade in the New Freedom and Glen Rock schools, substituted for 12 years in the Dallastown School District, and later taught third grade at Ore Valley Elementary School form 1962-1978. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, York. She also was active in the scouting program and organized the Leader Heights Girl Scout Troop in 1956 and was their leader until 1963. Sally Also assisted her late husband in organizing the Leader Heights Boy Scout Troop. She was a charter member of the Glen Rock Women’s Club and volunteer for 15 years at the Glen Rock Senior Center, where she served as their trip coordinator. She was a member of the National Retired Teachers Association, and the former York YWCA Women’s Club; a life member of the York County Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees; and a charter member of the former AARP York East Chapter 2322. Mrs. Sieling was a world traveler, having visited all six inhabited continents, and enjoyed organizing trips both in the United States and abroad for senior citizens. She is survived by a son, James Sieling, III and his wife, Nancy Rae of York; a daughter, Carole Marea Sieling of Alexandria, Va.; four grandchildren, James Sieling, IV and his wife Rebecca of Glen Rock, Andrea Lynne Anstine and her husband Jason of York, Carole Lynn Rojahn and her husband Matthew of Jacobus, and David Paul Sieling of Boston, Mass.; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Anderson and Charlotte Huston. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sarah L.
