Sandy Smith

Sandra Smith (Sandy) of Potosi passed away peacefully on Friday, August 30, 2024 at the age of 69. She is survived by two daughters, Zo and Sadaye Tallman Smith, and a son-in-law David Floyd. She was known as DeeDee to her three grandchildren, Isabelle, Jaliyah, and Kieran. She is also survived by a sister, Brenda Kiger, a brother Charles (Chas) Smith, his wife Terry, a late brother Doug (Stewart D. Smith), and his wife Vicki; nieces, nephews, and great-nephews; and a lifetime friend, Cindy Glackin.

Sandy was the partner of the late Mikaela Tallman, and the second daughter of Stewart and Helen Smith of Potosi. She graduated from Dallastown High School in 1972, Salem University in Salem, WV in 1976, and she received her Masters from Towson University in 1993. She worked for AT&T for many years before her retirement in 2015. Following retirement, she worked part time at Rutter's in Shrewsbury and drove a school bus for Southern school district.

Sandy enjoyed spending time with family, the mountains (especially Jacks mountain near Reeds Gap State Park), Rehoboth Beach, and the simple life Potosi living offers. Her smile, infectious laugh, and gentle way will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sandy's memory/honor can be sent to York Health Foundation Cancer Patient Help Fund, 2500 S. George St., York PA 17403; Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Dr., Lancaster PA 17601; or a favorite charity.

A visitation will be held at Geiple-Predicce Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, PA. 17237 on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 6 to 7 PM at which time a funeral service will be held with a social gathering to follow.
