On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, Samuel W. Alban, Jr., 59, of Glen Rock, passed away at WellSpan York Hospital. He was the husband of Amy M. (Fuller) Alban.
Sam was born on April 19, 1965, in York, to the late Donna (Lutz) and Samuel W. Alban, Sr. He graduated from Susquehannock High School in 1984, then continued to work at the school for 37 years as a custodian before retiring. Sam enjoyed setting up model trains; hunting; watching westerns like Gunsmoke and Bonanza; he also enjoyed going on vacation and riding on the Strasburg Railroad. Sam was a former volunteer for the Glen Rock Hose and Ladder Company; and also the Southern York County Forest Fire Crew, where he was sent out west to help fight forest fires.
Sam is survived by his wife, Amy; two daughters, Amber L. and Amanda L. Alban; one sister, Stephanie J. Shelton (Anthony Shelton); two nephews, Corey A. Shelton (Megan E. Walsh), and Jacob S. Shelton; one niece, Kendall J. Shelton; one great-niece Mia K. Shelton; and his father-in-law, Michael Fuller. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Debra S. Kowalevicz (Henry Kowalevicz); two infant brothers; paternal grandparents, Walter P. and Marguerite F. Alban; maternal grandparents, Kenneth J. and Mary W. Lutz; and his mother-in-law, Linda (Phillips) Townsend.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are recommended to Glen Rock Hose and Ladder Company, PO Box 95, Glen Rock, PA 17327. Online condolences may be made at www.geiple.com.
