Rosa A. Madison Seven Valleys Rosa A. (Bortner) Madison, 85, of Seven Valleys, died Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at her home. She was the wife of the late Edgar T. Madison with whom she was married to for 59 years until his death in 2005. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 1, 2014, at St. Peter’s Church, 1708 Seitzville Road, Seven Valleys, with Pastor Tom Beck officiating. Burial will follow in Friedensaal Lutheran Church Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 AM Saturday at the church. Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Madison was born November 4, 1928, in Spring Grove, a daughter of the late Ervin M. and Hilda Mae (Rohrbaugh) Bortner. She was a homemaker for most of her life and had worked at the former Young’s Grocery Store near York New Salem for several years. Rosa was a member of St. Peter’s Church and the Potosi Farm Women’s Group #11. She was a former Den Mother with Cub Scout Pack #122 Jefferson and had attended and taught Sunday School at the former York Gospel Center. She leaves four daughters, Dolly A. Edwards and her companion, Tom Strausbaugh of York, Carolyn E. Brenneman and husband, David of Glen Rock, Jane C. Madison of York, and Jean M. Druck and husband, Rick of York, four sons, Donald T. Madison and wife, Ida of Glenville, Dan E. Madison and wife, Julia of Codorus, Michael J. Madison of Glen Rock and Mark E. Madison and wife, Lynne of Stewartstown; 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, four sisters, Ruth L Shupp of New Oxford, Joanne E. Bowers of Lehighton, Janet M. Hughes of Chambersburg and Mildred G. Murray of Emigsville, a brother, David P. Bortner of Thomasville and her beloved friend Marlyn Miller of Hallam. She was preceded in death by a grandson, a granddaughter, Heather R. Madison; sisters, Miriam Mae Fisher and Dorothy J. Stevens and by two brothers, Clyde E. Bortner and Edward T. Bortner. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship, 58 Mt. Zion Road, York, PA 17402; or to St. Peter’s Church, 1708 Seitzville Road, Seven Valleys, PA 17360.
