Robert D. Trump, 82, of Hanover, died Monday November 10, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Betty J. (Yingling) Trump, with whom he celebrated a 62nd wedding anniversary this past June 29th. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at St. Jacob's (Stone) UCC Church, 5152 Stone Church Road, Glenville, with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. Jason A. Leader, and Rev. Barbara Brenneman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewings will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Friday at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main Street, Glen Rock with Military Rites by the Hanover Allied Veterans Council being conducted at 6:45 PM, and also from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Saturday at St. Jacob’s Stone UCC Church. Friends with motorcycles are encouraged to ride them to the service. Mr. Trump was born June 21, 1932 in Codorus Township, a son of the late Harry and Amy L. (Rohrbaugh) Trump. He graduated in 1950 from Codorus Township High School, Glenville and also from The National Fire Protection Association in 1976. Robert served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, serving as a radio operator while stationed in Munich, Germany. He also serviced with the National Guard of Pennsylvania. He retired in 1991 from the Caterpillar Tractor Company in York, where he was employed as a Security Guard for over 35 Years. He was a life long member of the St. Jacob's (Stone) United Church of Christ, where he sang on the church choir, helped to start the Sunday School Orchestra, was a teacher in the Sunday School for many years and was a member of the Community Club of the church. He was the longest playing member of the Brodbecks Band having played the Clarinet for 67 years. He was a life member of the Hanover VFW Post #2506 and was a dedicated member of the Hanover Allied Veterans Council Honor Guard for many years. He also held membership in the Gold Wing Road Riders Club of America and served on the Board of Directors of the Jefferson Chapter #3699 of the AARP. He also served on the Boards of the former 8th District Sunday School Association, the York County Sunday School Association, and served on the Boards of the York County Christian Endeavor and the Southeast Central District of Christian Endeavor. Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters, Wanda L. Sterner and her husband Alan, Donna M. Shue and her husband Gerald L. Sr, and Judy A. Eckard, all of Hanover; a son Jeffrey A. Trump and his wife Michele of Abbottstown; eight grandchildren, Faye M. Smith, Gerald L. Shue, Jr., Adam R. Shue, Katie J. Null, Emily S. Rhodes, Bradley J. Eckard, Brandon A. Eckard and Chad L. Bish; 17 great grandchildren, a sister, Shirley A. Miller and her husband Willis of Hanover and two brothers, Kenneth R. Trump and his wife Marianne of Mt. Airy, MD, and Carl E. Trump and his wife Shiela of Hanover. He was predeceased by a sister and three brothers.
