Robert L. Wagner, 77, of Shrewsbury, who was formerly of Glen Rock, died Thursday, November 14, 2019 at SpiriTrust Lutheran Shrewsbury. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Day) Wagner, with whom he celebrated a 20th wedding anniversary June 4, 2019. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019 at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main Street, Glen Rock, with military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Arron Cope, Chaplain of SpiriTrust Lutheran Shrewsbury. A viewing will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Mr. Wagner was born in Glen Burnie, MD, a son of the late Marvin S. and Esther (Kress) Wagner. He graduated from the Severn School in Severna Park MD in 1960 and from Gettysburg College in 1964. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era serving as a Lieutenant. He was employed as a machine operator, retiring from AMP, Inc. in 1995 and prior to that had been employed with Caterpillar Co. in York from 1969 to 1984. Bob also worked as a tour guide for Gettysburg Tours and was active in Boy Scouts, where he was an Eagle Scout, served as a Cub Master for Pack 48 and as Scout Master for Troop 48 in Glen Rock and received scouting’s highest award the Silver Beaver Award. He also served as an Administrator with Boy Scouts of America in Bradford Pa for several years. Active in the community, he volunteered as an EMT with the Glen Rock Ambulance Club and as a transporter at York Hospital. He was a member of the Shrewsbury/Stewartstown Historical Society and had received the Glen Rock Jaycees Good Citizenship Award. Besides his wife he leaves, many cousins, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10305. Condolences may be shared at geiple.com
