Robert E. "Jake" Haugh

Robert E. (Jake) Haugh, 88, formerly of Spring Grove, passed away at Dallastown Nursing Center Monday, May 17. He was the husband of the late Rosie (Lane) Haugh, who passed away in 2004, and the long time companion of Janelle Klinedinst. Jake was born March 29, 1933 in East Hopewell Township to the late Joseph Edward and Esther (Krouse) Haugh-Swartz. He attended many different schools in York County then proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1952-1956 aboard the USS Intrepid. He was a truck driver for more than 30 years and a member of the Central PA Teamsters; first working for Motor Freight Express then Consolidated Freight. He is survived by his children, Ruby Alban (Greg), R. Kevin Haugh (Trish), Melody Williams (David) and Joe Haugh (Jackie); six grandchildren: Rob Haugh, Gabe Sweeney (Mary), Jeremy Alban, Shanon Sweeney (Kristen), Ashley Haugh and Rianna Gillespie (Corey); four great-grandchildren: Azlyn, Aidan, Zeke and Finley; and a brother, Mike Swartz (Kathy). He was preceded in death by his sons, Malcolm and David; step-father, Lloyd Swartz; sister, Dorothy Miller and brother, Raymond Haugh. A public viewing will be held on Saturday, May 22 at Geiple-Predicce Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, from 9:00 am until 10:30 am, when a time of memory sharing will begin. Interment will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York.
