Robert A. Tharp

Robert A. Tharp, 84 of North Codorus Township, passed away suddenly, Sunday May 15, 2022 at WellSpan York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Barbara J. (Meckley) Tharp. Robert was born on November 26, 1937 in York and was a son of the late Franklin Tharp and Effie I. (Roadcap) Tharp Hoke. He worked as a truck driver for 50 years for KBS, Inc. Thomasville, and farmed throughout his life, including for Gus's Farm Equipment. Robert was a member of Menges Mills Steam Engine Association, Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association, and Steam-o-Rama, Windsor. He collected antique Minneapolis-Moline tractors and enjoyed attending antique truck and tractor shows. Robert is survived by his children, Arlene Walden and her husband John of Mechanicsburg; Ardel Breon and her husband Mark; Arthur Tharp; Arla Jacoby and her husband Bob, and David Meckley, all of York; and Irene Siewert and her husband Matthew of Springfield, Illinois; seven grandchildren; and a brother Steve Hoke of Spring Grove. He was preceded in death by a sister Doris Sweeney; and three brothers, Charles Tharp, Nolan "Skip" Tharp, and Frank Hoke. Following cremation, a celebration gathering will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday June 26, 2022 at Bethel UCC Church, 2112 Yingling Drive, Spring Grove, PA 17362. Meal and visitation in the fellowship hall. All are welcome.
