Robert A. Duerr York Robert A. “Bob” Duerr, 79, of York, who was formerly of Jacobus, died Monday August 31, 2015 at his home. He was the husband of Elenora “Elie” (Hicks-Shue) Duerr, with whom he celebrated a 56th Wedding Anniversary this past November 24th. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM on Friday September 4, 2015 at Salem United Church of Christ, 24 Franklin Street, Jacobus, with Pastor Kevin L. Becker, officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 AM Friday at the church and following the service a time of fellowship and light luncheon will be held. Burial will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Duerr was born in York on November 6, 1935, a son of the late Lloyd C. and Mary E. (Snyder) Duerr. Bob graduated in 1955 from Susquehannock High School and proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Ranger. He retired after 20 years of employment from DuPont Connectors System, where he was a Project Manager having worked in Brazil and Mexico. Prior to that he had worked for AMP Inc. Following his retirement he worked for Kanson Electronics as a General Manager and also as the first Courier hired for York Hospital (Wellspan) Laboratories. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, where he was a former Elder and Deacon and served on various other committees. He also was a member of the Hawks Club in York and a life member of the USS Ranger CVA 61 Association. Growing up Bob became an Eagle Scout with the Shrewsbury Boy Scout Troop and his Eagle Scout project was to build the Scout House at the park in Shrewsbury. He was also a member of the Order of the Arrow with Scouting. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Kimberly S. Davidson and husband Scott of York, Brad A. Duerr and wife Missy of York Haven, four grandchildren, Loni, Ryan, Cory and Ethan, three great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and sisters-in-laws, Lucille Duerr and Lois Rae Duerr and best friend, Linda Yakacki. He was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to Salem UCC Church, 24 Franklin Street, Jacobus, PA 17407 or to a charity of your choice.
