Richard V. Shirey Seven Valleys Richard “Dick” V. Shirey, 78, of Seven Valleys, died Wednesday, December 25, 2013, at the York Hospital. He was the husband of Carol R. (O’Keefe) Shirey, with whom he celebrated a 57th wedding anniversary on January 14, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock with the Rev. John L. Trout officiating. Burial will be in Giesey Memorial Cemetery, Shrewsbury. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Monday at the funeral home. Dick was born on December 3, 1935 in Springfield Township. He was the son of the late Curvin S. Sr. and Mary (Floyd) Shirey. He was a peacetime United States Army Veteran. He was employed as a machinist for B.M. Root Company, York and formerly worked for AMP Inc.. Mr. Shirey enjoyed country and blue grass music. Prior to his illness he played the mandolin, banjo, guitar, and the fiddle. Besides his wife, he leaves behind two sisters, Kathryn Shirey and Dorothy LaMotte both of York, and many nieces and nephews.
