Rev. Richard C. Weaver Glen Rock Rev. Richard C. Weaver, 83, died Sunday January 7, 2018 at his home. He was the husband of Doris (Gindlesperger) Weaver with whom he celebrated a 55th Wedding Anniversary on July 14th. Viewings will be held from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm Friday at Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, and from 10 to 11 am Saturday, January 13, 2018 at St. Jacob's Lutheran Church, 3444 Sticks Road, Glen Rock where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am with Rev. Paula Murray, officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday at St. Jacob’s Stone Church Cemetery, Glenville. Rev. Weaver was born in Grafton, WV on May 1, 1934, a son of the late Reeves H. and Leona P. (Smith) Weaver. He graduated as Valedictorian of the class of 1951 at Turkeyfoot High School in Confluence, Pa. and in 1955 earned his BS Degree in Agriculture from Penn State University. Pastor Weaver went on to receive his Master of Divinity Degree from Gettysburg Seminary in 1961. He became an ordained Minister of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and later with the North American Lutheran Church. He served as pastor of the Scalp Level Charge at Grace Lutheran Church in Rummel, PA and Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Scalp Level Pa. from 1961 to 1966. He then served as Associate Pastor at Moxham Lutheran Church from 1966 to 1970, following which he came to the Glen Rock area serving as Pastor of the then Codorus Lutheran Parish consisting of Bethlehem “Steltz” Lutheran Church and St. Jacob’s “Stone” Lutheran Church. In 1972, the Codorus Parish dissolved, and he became pastor of St. Jacob “Stone” Lutheran Church, Glenville, where he served for 29½ years from 1972 until 1999 and in 2000 was elected Pastor Emeritus of the church. Following his retirement, he served as the Interim Pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church in McSherrystown, Pa from 2001-2009. Rev. Weaver served on the Global Missions Committee of the Lower Susquehanna Synod and he took part in visiting the Konde diocese of the ELCA in Tanzania Africa. He also served on the synod Board of the Lutheran Church Camping Corporation and served as a Trail Counselor. Locally, he founded the Stone Church Community Club where he arranged bus trips for the group and was Co-Coordinator of the Jefferson Area Crop Walk for Hunger for many years. He enjoyed Hunting, Gardening and Model Railroading. He also leaves two sons, James C. Weaver (wife Pat) of Manheim, PA and Jonathan R. Weaver of Glen Rock; two grandsons; Samuel D. Weaver and Benjamin J. Weaver; his niece’s, Claudia Mayer, Stephanie Dobson and nephew Mark Dobson. He was preceded in death by a sister Joanne LaTourette.
