Raymond K. Smith Hanover Raymond K. Smith, 84, of Hanover, who was formerly of Glen Rock, died Sunday December 28, 2014 at Homewood Home at Plum Creek. He was the husband of Violet V. (Taylor) Smith, with whom he celebrated a 63nd wedding anniversary this past June 1st. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at St. Jacob's (Stone) UCC Church, 5152 Stone Church Road, Glenville, with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. Jason A. Leader, officiating. Burial with Military Rites by the Hanover Allied Veterans Council will be in the church cemetery. Viewings will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main Street, Glen Rock and from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. Jacob’s Stone UCC Church. Mr. Smith was born September 1, 1930 in Brodbecks, a son of the late Willis V. and Annie Kaltreider Smith. Raymond proudly served as a Corporal with the 65th AAA Battalion in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. A cabinet maker, he retired in 1992 from Del Wood Kitchens in Hanover after 14 years of employment and prior to that he had worked for over 32 years with the former Glen Traditionals Furniture Company in Glen Rock. He also worked part time for the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. for several years. He was a lifelong member of the St. Jacob's (Stone) United Church of Christ, where he had served on the consistory and was a member of the Sunday School. He also was a member of the Hanover Post #14 American Legion and the former Railroad Boys Hunting Camp in Mifflin County. He enjoyed going to public sales, visiting with people, playing cards, being outdoors, hunting, fishing and working in his garden. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Margo K. Caskey and her husband Gregory of Spring Grove, a son Zane T. Smith and his wife, Susan of Red Lion, grandchildren, Kerri Renoll and her husband Michael, Clayton Smith a great grandchild, Cameron Renoll; two sisters, Eva K. Boyer of York and Mildred Smith of Glen Rock and a brother, Wilford K. Smith of Seven Valleys.
