Ray A. Riley

Ray A. Riley, 84, of Spring Grove, passed away Wednesday January 19, 2022 at ManorCare South. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorene M. (Richards) Riley; together they shared over 49 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2009. Ray was born in North Codorus Township, on September 9, 1937 and was the son of the late Henry W. and M. Marcella (Ziegler) Riley. Mr. Riley proudly served in the United States Army. He worked as a welder for Borg Warner (now Johnson Controls) for over 30 years, having retired in 1997. He enjoyed breakfast with his fellow retired union friends and his monthly "Riley Breakfast" with his family at the Papertown Dairy Bar. He loved attending local Christian and Country music shows including "The Jam'' at Church of the Open Door, York. He was also a member of the Windy Hill Senior Center, Spring Grove. Ray was a loyal member of Genesis Church, York New Salem and had a strong faith in God; he will be sadly missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his three sisters, Shirley A. Markle of York, Darlene L. Wetzel and her husband Richard of York, and Karla E. Reed of East Berlin; numerous nieces and nephews; and his special friend Lilly Laird. A viewing will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday January 26, 2022 until the funeral service begins at 12:00 PM at Genesis Church, 1405 Seven Valleys Rd., York, with Pastor Bob Tome officiating. Interment will follow at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York with military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
