Ramona Mae Diehl

May 15, 1931 — January 22, 2018

Ramona Mae Diehl Shrewsbury Ramona “MeMaw” Mae (Dyche) Diehl of Shrewsbury, PA, and formerly of Reisterstown and Cumberland, MD, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018. Born May 15, 1931 in Cumberland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Richard Dyche Sr. and Mae Bella (House) Dyche. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey R. Diehl; her brothers, Clarence “Sonny” Dyche, Jr., Richard C. Dyche, and James R. Dyche; her son-in-law, Mark E. Kapinos; her niece, Shauna Osbourne; and her beloved dog, Heidi. Ramona worked at the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn, MD, until she retired. At which time, she moved to Shrewsbury, PA, to live with her daughter, her son-in-law, and her two “grand babies”. She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Shrewsbury, PA, where she taught J.O.Y. (Just Older Youth) Sunday school. With the church, she participated in the Cookie Walk, made lunches for the homeless, baked meals for shut-ins, and donated her car to the church once she decided to no longer drive. She did all of this while trying to not share all of her passionate opinions on everything, at which she was not very good. Ramona loved duck pin bowling with her neighbors in Reisterstown. She loved reading a variety of books, watching her “stories” (a.k.a. Days of Our Lives), and forcing her grandchildren to listen to Kenny G. She was an avid fan of the Baltimore Ravens, the Baltimore Orioles, Penn State Football and her grandchildren, but her favorite thing to watch was when all of them were too lazy and playing tiddlywinks. Ramona is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Diehl) Kapinos; her grandson and his wife, Daniel and Megan Kapinos and her great granddaughter, Emma; and her grandson and his wife, Dustin and Joanna Kapinos, and her great grand dog, Jake. She is also survived by her sister, Peggy Osbourne, and her sister-in-law’s, Roberta Dyche and Danette Dyche. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of SpiriTrust Lutheran Home of Shrewsbury, PA, and SpiriTrust Hospice for taking such good care of Ramona. In lieu of services, a celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date. Burial services will be private. If you would like to make a memorial donation in her name, the family asks that you donate to your local animal shelter because of Ramona’s love of animals, or to the Alzheimer’s Association. MeMaw will be missed by all the lives she touched, especially those to which she gave a hard time.
