R. Laverne Gladfelter

R. Laverne Gladfelter Glen Rock R. Laverne Gladfelter, 85, formerly of Glen Rock, died Sunday, July 1, 2018, at Manor Care South, York. He was the husband of the late Doris M. (Ernst) Gladfelter. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 6, 2018, at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. Viewings will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday evening and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Katie Brantner. Mr. Gladfelter was born on January 21, 1933, in Glenville, a son of the late Curtis E. and Micleta A. (Bortner) Gladfelter. Mr. Gladfelter was a peacetime U.S. Navy veteran. He retired in 1988 from Consolidated Freightways, York after 30 years as a Salesman. He was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church, Glen Rock, the Bon Air Country Club, Glen Rock, the Glen Rock Lion’s Club, Zembo Temple A.A.O.N.M.S., Harrisburg, Tall Cedars of Lebanon York Forrest #30, the Jefferson Chapter #3699 of the AARP, and a past President of the Southern York County School Board. Laverne enjoyed golfing, hunting, traveling, and spending time with his granddaughters. He leaves a son, Jerry A. Gladfelter and his wife Karen of Littlestown; two granddaughters, Kristen Mulder and her husband Mike and Amy Eckenrode and her husband Brian; three great grandsons, Landon, Camden, and Keegan; a brother Philip E. Gladfelter of the Cross Keys Village; and a sister Nadine E. Gladfelter of Lititz.
