Phyllis L. Kern Elizabethtown Phyllis L. (Stermer) Kern, 76, of the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, who was formerly of York and Dallastown, died Wednesday morning at the home. She was the wife of the late Rev. Richard E. “Dick” Kern. Viewings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday April 15, 2018 at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Arlington EC Church, 585 Lombard Road, Red Lion, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Sterling Trimmer, Jr., officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Mrs. Kern was born in Shrewsbury Township on June 6, 1941, a daughter of the late Vernon E. and Goldie V. (Burns) Stermer. She graduated in 1959 from Susquehannock High School and from York Hospital School of Nursing in 1962. She worked as a school nurse for a couple of years in the Southern School district. Phyllis was a member of Arlington EC Church and York Hospital School of Nursing She leaves a daughter, Sharon A. Dukeman (Bryan) of Mt. Joy; two sons, Mark A. Kern (Leslie) of Boomer, NC. and David E. Kern (Neesha) of Parker AZ; three grandchildren, Jacob L., Jonathan H. and Sarah E. Dukeman; and a sister, Debra S. Amspacher of Spring Grove. She was predeceased by a brother, James A. Stermer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Evangelical Seminary, (mark for the Board of Missions), 121 S. College Street, Myerstown, PA 17067-1299.
