On Thursday, September 22, 2022, Philip "Dr. Phil" Winand, 73, passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He was born on December 5, 1948, in Hanover, PA to the late Lester G. and Edna R. (Amspacher) Winand. Phil proudly served his country in Vietnam with the US Army. He served over 25 years with the Baltimore County Public works operating heavy equipment and even spent many nights sleeping in his truck waiting to plow roads. Comedically known as "Dr. Phil", he enjoyed the local bars where he enjoyed partying and would show off his shoulder shrugging dance skills. He also enjoyed going to the casino.
Phil was an honorable man, a good friend-would do anything for anyone, a loving grandfather...and would request his grandson Bryce to call him the "Slap Happy Pappy" while his other grandchildren knew him as "Pappy". A jack-of-all-trades, Phil was good at everything. In his spare time, he enjoyed tinkering with small engines, going fishing, watching wrestling and being around his family. He was a member of the Dallastown VFW and American Legion.
Phil is survived by his children- Angie Dyke (Husband-Jack), Josh Winand, and Ryan Winand (Wife-Katie); mother of their children- Shawn Roberge; Sisters- Leta Winand, Sally Attig and Marlene Powell; and five grandchildren- Maddy Fuller, Bryce, Mackenzie, Adelyn and Brayden Winand.
Services are private at Phil's request. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are recommended to the York County Veterans Affairs, 2401 Pleasant Valley Rd, York, PA 17402. Online condolences may be made at www.geiple.com.
