On December 25, 2020, Norman P. Kearney, 84, of Spring Grove passed away at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York. He was the husband of the late Lena (Nafe) Kearney for 60 years until her passing in June of this year. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at a later date. Norman was born on April 28, 1936 in New Freedom, PA to the late Harry L. and Fannie (Newcomer) Kearney. He retired from Harley-Davidson after a long, dedicated career driving truck, hauling motorcycles. He was a member of several organizations, including being a lifetime Auxiliary Member of the Spring Grove VFW; Lifetime Member of the Sons of the American Legion in Glen Rock; Lifetime Member of the Vikings Athletic Assn.; the 12th Ward Democratic Club; the 13th Ward Republican Club; the Hanover Moose Lodge #227; Charter Member of Menges Mills Historic Horse, Steam and Gas Association; and the Retirement League at the Briarwood Golf Club in York. In his spare time, he enjoyed motorcycle riding and spending time at the family cabin in Mifflin County. He leaves five children, Stephen L. Nafe (Regina) of Glen Rock, Scott L. Kearney (Debra) of Thomasville, Rae Ann Pownell (Paul) of Spring Grove, Randy M. Kearney (Sue) of Spring Grove and Wendy Washington of Maryland; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife; his parents; a son, Dwayne E. Kearney, a great-grandson Oliver; and three brothers, John, George, and Donald Kearney.
