Norma T. Innerst

On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, Norma (Thoman) Innerst, 99, passed away peacefully at Country Meadows Leader Heights, where she had been a resident of since 2011. She was the loving wife of the late Arthur Innerst. Norma was born on October 9, 1924, in Codorus Township, to the late Grover and Emma (Wagner) Thoman.


She graduated from Codorus Township High School before receiving an Associates Degree from Thompson Business School in York. She went on to work as a Draft Person for B.M. Root Company in York, retiring in 1986, after 44 years of service. Norma was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church in Glen Rock, where she also sang in the choir for many years and served as Secretary and Superintendent of the Primary Department, Church Council and various other committees. She was also on the Samaritans Sewing Group; was a Girl Scout Leader with Glen Rock Troop 20289; was a member of the Austin L. Grove American Legion Post #403; and the Jefferson AARP #3699.


Norma is survived by two step daughters, Marcia S. Albright and husband David, and Robin J. Fridy; three step-grandchildren, Stephanie Dorer and husband Michael, Mindy Smith and husband Andrew, Mark Albright and wife Connie; four step-great-grandchildren, George, Joseph and Kathryn Smith, Chase Albright. She was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Norma was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, Russell A., Austin J. and Earl H. Thoman; one step-son-in-law, James Fridy; one niece; and one great-niece.


The family would like to send a heartfelt Thank You to the staff of Lifesong Hospice for their loving care of Norma over the past year, and also, the staff of Country Meadows Leader Heights for their care and compassion given to her over the years of living there.


A public viewing will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 11:00am until a funeral service begins at 1:00pm at Zion Lutheran Church, 49 Hanover St., Glen Rock. After a post-service luncheon, a committal service will be held at Salem Union Cemetery, Jacobus. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are requested to Zion Lutheran Church, 49 Hanover St., Glen Rock, 17327. Online condolences may be made at www.geiple.com.
