Michael “Jake” Brown Spring Grove Michael Jacob Brown, 64, of Spring Grove, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at his home. He was the husband of Denise M. Tarabori-Brown, with whom he celebrated 35 years of marriage on September 26th. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday March 10, 2018 at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock, with Rev. John Napp, officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Mr. Brown was born on October 23, 1953 in York and was a son of the late George W. Brown, Sr. and Arlene R. (Kearney) Brown. Jake worked as a Land Surveyor for Penn Dot for over 20 years and prior to that he was co-owner of Mort Brown and Associates, Hanover for over 15 years. He was an avid hunter, outdoors enthusiast, and lifetime member of the NRA and the National Wild Turkey Federation. Jake also played fast pitch softball in the New Freedom Area for many years on numerous teams and coached little league. In addition to his wife Denise, he leaves two daughters, Maureen G. Rankin-Benitez of Manheim, PA, and Kearney M. Brown (John McLucas) of Seven Valleys; three sons, Robert A. Rankin II of Germany, Daniel J. Brown of Spring Grove, and Michael G.W. Brown of Warren, RI; three grandchildren, Alexandra “Allie” M. Benitez, Aidan M. Benitez, and Annie G. McLucas; four sisters, Delores A. “Dee” Gates (Jim) of Dallastown, Maureen M. “Reenie” Beck (Wayne) of York, Barbara A. Basom (Barry) of Mechanicsburg, and Sharon L. Holmes (Gregory) of Airville; four brothers, George W. Brown, Jr. of Glen Rock, Robert W. Brown of New Freedom, David N. Brown (Juliana) of Felton, and Jeffrey A. Brown (Joy Keller-Brown) of Glen Rock; and a large extended family. He was predeceased by a sister-in-law Sharon Brown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The ALS Association Greater Philadelphia Chapter, 321 Norristown Road, Suite 260, Ambler, PA 19002 or to, Homeland Hospice, 2300 Vartan Way, Suite 270, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
