Mary E. Thomas Manchester Md. Mary E. (Barrick) Thomas, 87, who was formerly of Manchester, MD, departed this life March 1, 2016 at Copper Ridge Assisted Living in Sykesville MD. She was the wife of the late John W. Thomas Jr. Born October 11, 1928 in Codorus Township, she was a daughter of the late Clark U. and Elsie (Watson) Barrick. Mrs. Thomas was employed as an Assembly Person at Black and Decker in Hampstead MD and had also worked as a custodian at North Carroll High School for several years. She also assisted her husband with the family farm in the Carroll County MD and Southern York County area. She was a Charter Member of New Hope "Fissel's" United Church of Christ, Glen Rock, where she taught Sunday School and had served on various committees of the church. She loved music and had played with the former Hanover Oahu Hawaiian Band. Mary is survived by two daughters, Dianna L. Thomas and Jane M. Thomas; three sons, Jeffrey L. Thomas and wife Frances, Rickey J. Thomas and wife Mary and John W. Thomas III and wife Diane; five grandchildren, Michael E. Thomas, Jaime L. DeGarmo, Bruce E. Rhoten Jr., David M. Thomas, and Bradley M. Thomas; six great grandchildren and a sister, Violet Zeck and a brother, Frank Barrick. She was predeceased by a sister Beulah Heindel and three brothers, Byrle Barrick, Clark J. Barrick and Lester Barrick. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016 at New Hope (Fissel's) UCC Church, 3426 Fissels Church Road, Glen Rock, PA with her pastor, Rev. Julian Hall officiating, assisted by her great nephew, Rev. Sterling Fritz. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewings will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock and from 10 to 11 AM Saturday at the church.
