Mary E. Glatfelter

Mary E. Glatfelter Glen Rock Mary Evelyn (Stump) Glatfelter, 88, of Glen Rock, died Friday, June 2, 2017 at her home. She was the wife of Dean B. Glatfelter with whom she celebrated a 68th wedding anniversary on April 16th. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 9, 2017 at Zion (Shaffer’s) United Lutheran Church, 4535 Shaffer Road, Seven Valleys, with Rev. John W. “Jack” Dyson, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Zion Shaffer’s Church Cemetery. Viewings will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 PM Thursday at Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock and from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Friday at the church. Mrs. Glatfelter was born in York on July 12, 1928 and was a daughter of the late Walter M. and Meda V. (Falkenstein) Stump. She was a homemaker and worked as an Election Clerk for Codorus Township for many years. She was a member of Zion Shaffer’s Lutheran Church since 1949, where she enjoyed teaching Bible School. Mary loved traveling and had visited all 50 states, the Panama Canal, Switzerland, and Germany. The most important thing in Mary's life was her faith in God, followed closely by her love for her family and friends. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter Diane Bortner and friend Tom Bailey; a son Gary Glatfelter and his wife Cindy; three grandchildren, Mark Bortner, Dan Glatfelter and his girlfriend Kristen Smith, and Sarah Glatfelter and her boyfriend Mike Jones, all of Glen Rock. She was predeceased by a daughter Carol Glatfelter; a son Mark Glatfelter; two brothers; and two sisters.
