Marie Zinn, of North St., York, PA, age 98, passed away on June 3, 2022. Born May 22, 1924 in Delta, PA to the late Ira and Beatrice Fulks Parthree. Because of the death of her mother, she was taken in by the Children's Home in York, PA. At a young age she was placed in foster care with Mr. and Mrs. J.K. Rishel of Glen Rock. She worked at AMP, then Carman's Ice Cream, and later Stanley Home Products.
Marie is survived by her children, Edward Zinn (Joyce), Sara Coffman (Dane), and Joan Luce (James); 6 grandchildren, Jon Zinn, Jay Zinn, David Coffman (Greg), Brandi Rikard (Wesley), Courtney McLean (Andrew), and Travis Luce (Kelly); and was also survived by 8 great-grandchildren. Marie was predeceased by her husband John Zinn; siblings, William Vernon Parthree (Edythe), Evelyn Stover (Ralph), and June Reisinger (Bill); and one granddaughter-in-law, Kay Zinn.
She loved cooking for large groups, making ham and crab cake dinners for Christ Lutheran Church in Loganville and the Loganville Recreation Association. Her work with the Recreation also included summer programs, swimming lessons, ice skating, and 500 card parties in and around town. She was a treasurer for Sanitation in Loganville and a co-chair for Loganville's 150th celebration, having the headquarters in her house. She was a Republican Party Committee woman for many years. "Have a Seat While You Eat" was her food stand at the York Fair for 50 years. This stand featured her homemade soups, chili, crab cakes, fresh cut french fries and Carman's Ice Cream. Many of those foods she prepared with fresh potatoes and vegetables from her garden. With Stanley Home Products she co-hosted parties for individuals and fundraisers for the church. Travel was an important part of her life - she shared those trips with family and friends.
Public viewing will be held on Thursday, June 9th, 2022 from 11:00 AM until a funeral service begins at 12:00 PM at Christ Lutheran Church, 80 South Main Street, Loganville. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Loganville. Pastor Douglas DeStephano will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Christ Lutheran Church at the address above.
