Marian Irene Sterner

On Saturday, August 26, 2023, Marian I. (Hildebrand) Sterner, 91, passed away at WellSpan York Hospital. She was the devoted wife of Jacob Sterner for 73 years. Marian was born on October 13, 1931 in Spry, PA to the late Mervin U. and Irene E. (Flory) Hildebrand. She graduated from Dallastown Area High School in 1949. She worked as a secretary for the family business, H.E. Sterner and Sons Service Station in Larue, PA until she retired. Marian was a member of New Hope Fissels United Church of Christ in Glen Rock, was a former Girl Scout leader, and served proudly on the York County Board of Elections. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing BINGO, bowling, singing for the Senior Center and other places with her small choir group; and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Marian is survived by her husband, Jacob; four children, Beverly Thoman and partner, Jamie Somerville, Michael Sterner and wife, Judy, Linda Brose and husband, Tim, and Debra Krout and husband, Charlie; six grandchildren, Kim, Scot, Travis, Jennifer, Jeremy, and David; thirteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; and extended family, Lester and Kathy Thoman and Michele and Brian; two sibings, Paul Hildebrand and Martha Ruppert. She is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Mervin, Jr., Marvin, Yvonne, Joan, Ralph, and Glenn.

Public viewing will be held on Thursday, August 31, from 1pm until a funeral service begins at 3pm at New Hope Fissel's United Church of Christ, 3426 Fissels Church Road, Glen Rock, PA 17327.
