Margaret Ann Thoman

Margaret Ann Thoman, 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Country Meadows in York. Born in York on August 21, 1941, to the late Earl and Marie (Mosetti) Thoman, Margaret was a 1959 graduate of Susquehannock High School. She then graduated from York Hospital School of Nursing before entering the US Air Force, where she would retire as a Lieutenant Colonel, after 25 years of dedicated service. After her retirement, she continued in medical service to her community as a hospice nurse with WellSpan for many years. She also volunteered her nursing skills at the York Free Clinic, and was a proud missionary, travelling to Kenya, Africa to provide medical care to the people there on many occasions. Margaret was an active member of Greenmount Church, where she taught Sunday School, Bible School, and was involved in the United Methodist Women's group. She traveled all over the world throughout her life, but also took great pride in taking care of her family. Her generosity to her community, love for her family, and service to her country will be remembered always.

She is survived by her four siblings: Jim Thoman and wife Cindy, Mary Thoman, Alice Newcomer and husband Ray, and William Thoman and wife Charlotte; and five nieces and nephews: Todd Newcomer, Dale Thoman, Corey Newcomer, Karen Thoman, and Daniel Thoman. She is also survived by numerous great-nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, and one nephew, Jay Thoman.

A public viewing will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024, from 10:00 am until a funeral service begins at 11:00 am at Greenmount Church, 4242 Greenmount Church Road, Glen Rock, PA 17327. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Jean Ward will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are recommended to the church at the address above.
