Marcia Soffer YORK Marcia (Black) Soffer, 91, of York, died Monday November 20, 2017 at Manor Care South. She was the wife of the late George J. Soffer. Graveside services will be held 11:00 Wednesday November 22, 2017 at South Hill Hebrew Cemetery 2101 Old Baltimore Pike, York, with Rabbi Jeffrey Astrachan, officiating. Mrs. Soffer was born on October 12, 1926, in New York City, N.Y., a daughter of the late Sam and Rose (Kornreich) Black. She graduated from New York University and had worked as a dietitian at Rest Haven-York and with the Spring Grove School District. Marcia was an active member of the Ohev Sholom Congregation, York, where she served as a Board Member of the Sisterhood from 1967 to 1992. She leaves two sons, Brandon I. Soffer and his wife, Marcia of Annapolis, Md., and Lowell C. Soffer and his wife, Vickie of Potomac, Md.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister Gloria Schancupp of Boynton Beach, FL. She was predeceased by a son, Stephen L. Soffer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jewish Family Services of York, 2000 Hollywood Drive, York, PA 17403.
