Lynette Irene Ascani

Lynette Irene Ascani passed away on August 5, at home surrounded by her family as hummingbirds gathered to drink nectar outside of her window. She was born on May 22, 1946 in Harrisburg to Richard R. and Irene (neé Fantino) Cairo. She grew up along the Susquehanna River in Wormleysburg. She attended St. Lawrence Elementary school and graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School. She married Bruno Ascani and together they raised their son Tony and daughter Danielle on the same street in Shiremanstown where her father Richard and step-mother Loretta and her Aunt Betty and Uncle Bob lived. Lynette's heart was loving and generous. Over fifty years ago she welcomed a Fresh Air Fund child into her family. Her life was enriched by the summer memories made at the beach with those she loved. In 2007, she moved to York county and lived with her sister Renee and brother-in-law Gianni. She greatly admired the beauty of the rolling hills and scenic drive to her home in Glen Rock. Her family is thankful for Dr. Huynh and his team of professionals, WellSpan VNA, and AseraCare Hospice. More recently, she met exceptional new friends Kris and Nicole for whom her family is grateful for their comfort, compassion and companionship. She is survived by her step-mother Loretta Cairo of Mechanicsburg, her brother Richard A. Cairo (Mai) of Mechanicsburg, her sister Renee Cairo-Iocco (Gianni) of Glen Rock, her son Anthony Ascani (Heather) of Harrisburg, her daughter Danielle Vincent of Virginia, her "summer" daughter Marisol Rodriguez of NYC, cousins, friends and beloved nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at a time convenient to her family.
