Lorrie Ann Bechtel

July 20, 1956 — October 11, 2024

On Friday, October 11, 2024, Lorrie Ann (Markle) Bechtel, 68, of York died at her home following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the loving wife of Mahlon L. Bechtel, with whom she would have celebrated 44 years of marriage on October 18th.

She was born on July 20, 1956 in York and was the daughter of the late Jay H. and Shirley A. (Riley) Markle. She was a 1974 graduate of York Vo-Tech and was very much looking forward to celebrating her 50th class reunion next week. Lorrie retired in 2021 as the department manager of fabrics and crafts at Walmart, East York after 31 years of employment. She loved crafting, camping, was the family photographer, and cherished time with her family and friends. She is an active member of Salem Christian Church, Jacobus and a faithful servant of God.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her beloved sheltie Daisy, who was her protector and companion. She is also survived by her two sisters, Kathy Landis (Doug) of Dallastown, Deneen Harbold (Scott) of Spring Grove; brother in laws, J. Charles Bechtel, and Ivan Bechtel (Pamela) of Halifax; sister in laws, Cathy Bechtel; nephews Bradley Landis (Sadie), Brent Landis (Megan), Matthew Harbold (Ellen), Eugene Jr (Jamie), Doug Bechtel, Brian Bechtel (Brenda); nieces, Megan Mellinger (Abe), Tishia Miller (Scott), Bambi Arnold (Kevin), Ann Stoneroad (Tom), Christy Lepore (Kevin), Brenda Bechtel, Bethany Bechtel, Jennifer Conklin, Kacie Conklin; great nieces and nephew, Chloe, Addisyn, Jayson, Bristol, Reagan, William, Toby, Eric, Ethan, Sarah, Olivia, AJ, J. Landon, Sophie, Nichole, Anthony, Emily, Oliver, Cohen, and numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Eugene "Gene" Bechtel, and sister-in-law Bonnie Bechtel.

Following cremation, a celebration of life service will be held at Salem Christian Church,24 Franklin St., Jacobus, with Rev. Kevin Becker officiating. A visitation will be held 9:30 AM Saturday October 19, 2024 with the service following at 11:00. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
