Larry E. Baugher

Larry E. Baugher Spring Grove Larry E. Baugher, 67, of Spring Grove, died Friday January 31, 2014 at York Hospital following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, February 7, 2014 at Christ United Church of Christ, 32 Baltimore Street, Codorus (Jefferson) with his pastor the Rev. Bonnie J. Whittier, officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 AM Friday at the Church. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main Street, Glen Rock is handling the arrangements. Larry was born on April 18, 1946, a son of Sarabelle L. (Cramer) Baugher of Spring Grove and the late Sterling E. Baugher. Besides his mother he also is survived by his loving sister Cindy E. Baugher of Jefferson, several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins and many friends. He graduated from Spring Grove High School in the Class of 1964 and from Elizabethtown College with a BS degree in Business Administration in 1968 and received his Masters Degree in Business from York College. He retired in 2004, from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Employment Office of York, where he was employed as a Labor Market Analyst Statistician 2, following over 30 years of employment. Larry had Cerebral Palsy for his whole life and it never stopped him from doing things that he wanted to do. He was a generous person who had compassion for others, dedicated to serving many organizations in his community and helping others in need. He was a faithful life member of Christ UCC Church, where he taught Sunday School for many years, served on the Church Consistory and as an Elder for several terms. He was currently serving as Chair Person of the Stewardship Committee and President of Lay Life at the Church. He was an active member of the Jefferson Community Lions Club, having served in many leadership offices of the Club and was a Past District Governor of District 14-C and a Melvin Jones Fellow of Lions Club International. Larry also served on the Board of Directors for the Jefferson Baseball Association and had been a scorekeeper for many years for the team. He served as Treasurer of the Jefferson Carnival Organization , and was a past Board of Director for Rabbit Transit. He was a member of the Jefferson Fire Company, Jefferson AARP Chapter #3699, Western York County Democratic Club for over 35 years, the Hanover Moose Lodge #227, Hanover Raven Roost #32, and the West Manchester Mall Walkers. Larry loved all sports, especially the Baltimore Orioles, the Baltimore Ravens, Penn State, York Revolutions and many Spring Grove High School Sports, where he attended many of the High School Sporting events. He loved to travel and has traveled to many places around the U.S. and the world, from the Taj Mahal in India to the Pyramids in Egypt, he enjoyed meeting and making friends with people across the U.S. and World. His last trip was to the Lions Club International Convention in Hamburg Germany this past July. He also enjoyed boat rides on Codorus Lake.
