Joseph Michael Delory

Joseph Michael DeLory, 66, of Spring Grove, passed away at his home on Wednesday, December 22, 2021. He was the loving husband of Carol Ann (Green) DeLory with whom he shared 49 1/2 years of marriage on June 26, 1972. Joseph was born on June 9, 1955, in Baltimore, Maryland, and was the son of the late Joseph Milton and Barbara Jean (Hyatt) DeLory. In addition to his wife and school sweetheart, Carol, Joe leaves his daughter Robin L. Venable and her husband Steven of Spring Grove; his brothers John DeLory of Bel Air, Maryland, and Todd DeLory of Deptford, New Jersey; a sister Michelle Fraker of Abingdon, Maryland; and his beloved mini-dachshunds, Dundee and Max. Mr. DeLory proudly served his country in the United States Army in 1973. Joe retired from John Hopkins Hospital after 13 years as their Building Maintenance Engineer. He attended St. Peter’s church, Seven Valleys. Joe was very interested in mechanical things and collected watches, flashlights, and knives. Joe was known to be a Mr. Fix-it. He enjoyed figuring out how things worked, taking them apart, putting them together again and in most cases making improvements. Joe worked at many occupations over the years, including movie theater attendant, bus boy, oriental rug sales, Kirby vacuum salesman, rigger and heavy hauling in his family business (DeLory and Sons), building engineer at Baltimore County Detention Center and Court Houses. Joe proudly held a Maryland State First Grade Stationary Engineers license from the mid 80s until his retirement in 2015. A visitation will be held Saturday January 22, 2022 from 11:30 until the celebration of life service begins at 1:00 PM at St. Peter's Church, 1708 Seitzville Road, Seven Valleys, with Pastor Tom Beck Officiating. Burial will be private at the convivence of the family.
