Johnny E. Mintun York Johnny E. Mintun, 94 of Springettsbury Township, York, died Sunday August 23, 2015 at his home. He was the husband of Lois J. (Steitz) Shive Mintun, with whom he celebrated a 42nd Wedding Anniversary on February 24th. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Pleasureville United Methodist Church, 2606 North Sherman Street, York, with his pastor the Rev. Frank N. Miller and the Rev. Dr. Eddie D.D. Miller, officiating. There will be no viewing. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 AM Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, York with Flag Folding and Taps by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Mintun was born on May 30, 1921 in Magnolia, Iowa a son of the late George E. and Affie (Brown) Mintun. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 82nd Airborne with Company G 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment in the European Theater of operations. He retired from GTE Sylvania York, where he was a Truck Driver and worked in the warehouse for many years. After he retired he worked for a Temporary Employment Agency for several years. He was a 57 year member of Pleasureville United Methodist Church, where he was a former Sunday School Teacher and sang on the church choir. He also was a member of Pleasureville American Legion Post #799. Besides his wife, Johnny leaves two daughters, Wendy Shive Mintun of York, Cindy L. Glatfelter and her husband Gary of Glen Rock; a step son, Gregg A. Shive and his wife Vanessa of York; five grandchildren, Daniel R. Glatfelter, Sieara N. Lohss and her husband Mike, Kristian A. Shive and his wife Chelsea, Sarah L. Glatfelter and Shannon L. Snyder and her fiancé Corey Potter; three great grandchildren, Kymani Shive, Brianna Potter and Bryce Potter and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters and four brothers. He was a very special person sharing his tender and caring heart towards God and all of God’s people. He always had a warm greeting for everyone and was a faithful servant of Christ.
