John C Krone

John C. Krone Glen Rock John C. Krone, 89, of Glen Rock, died Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at his home near Glen Rock. He was the husband of the late Ada L. (Hileman) Krone. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday July 9, 2016 at Christ Lutheran Church, 80 S. Main St., Loganville with his pastor, the Rev. Douglas DeStephano, officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main St., Glen Rock is assisting with the arrangements. Born June 26, 1927, he was a son of the late Charles H. and Mary L. (Sunday) Krone. He grew up in Manchester Township, York County and was a 1945 graduate of North York High School. John fulfilled his career goal by being a dairy farmer for fifty five years in the Springfield Township area near Glen Rock. While farming, John served several terms as a local representative to the American Dairy Association and the Dairy Council. In his earlier years, he had also worked at the Manchester Grange Feed Mill and Lyon Metal Products. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Loganville where he had served on the church council, was president of the council for several terms and he had also taught Sunday School. Active in 4-H he served as a leader with the Glen Rock Community 4-H Club and the Southwest 4-H Dairy Club. He also was a former member of the Loganville PTA and the Dallastown Band Parents. John is survived by six children, John C. Krone, Jr., Nancy E. Mummert and her husband, Merrill, and David A. Krone, all of Glen Rock, Jerry A. Krone and his wife, Amy of Fountainville, Pa., Martin L. Krone of Fayetteville, and Marvin L. Krone of New Cumberland; three grandchildren, Luke A. Mummert of Glen Rock, Patti L. Garrett and husband, Cory of Glen Rock, and Sandra Krone of Fountainville; two sisters, Anna Mary Geesey of Holidaysburg, Pa. and Mabel Bievenour of York. He was preceded in death by great-granddaughter, McKenna Garrett, a sister Sarah E. Wells and three brothers, George D., Jacob H. and Charles S. Krone. The family extends a very special thank you to Paulette Warrington-Holmes of Omni Home Health Care for her nursing care and compassion shown to John and his family.
