John A. Riley

December 23, 1939 — June 26, 2019

John A. Riley, 79, of Rockledge, FL, who was formerly of Glen Rock, died Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at his home. He was the husband of Anna C. (Cosden) Riley, with whom he celebrated a 61st wedding anniversary on August 3, 2018. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM Friday, July 12, 2019 at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main Street, Glen Rock, with Rev. Sylvan Capitani officiating. A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Mr. Riley was born on December 23, 1939 in Ellamore, West Virginia and was a son of the late John Robert and Mary (Fiorentino) Riley. He attended Mount Saint Joseph High School and John Hopkins University, both in Baltimore and was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving as an E-5 on the USS J. Douglas Blackwood. He retired as an Electrical Engineer in Sales, working for several companies over the years. Prior to moving to Florida, he served on the Southern York County School District School Board and coached SYC Football and with other sports programs. While in Florida, he was a Founder and Treasurer of the Brevard County Babe Ruth Baseball, Inc.; member of the Cocoa Beach Chamber of Commerce; and Past President of the Three Meadows HOA. He also loved the sport of Wrestling. In addition to his wife Anna, he is survived by a daughter Dawn Stiffler and her husband Randy of Palm Bay, FL; four sons, John A Riley, Jr. of Rockledge, FL., Richard E. “Rick” Riley and his wife Jennifer of Glen Rock, Bruce A. Riley and his wife Song of Melbourne Beach, FL, Pete D. Riley and his wife Judith of New Market, MD; thirteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert Riley and his wife Carol of Sebastian, FL., and Joseph Riley and his wife Nancy of Ellicott City, MD. He was predeceased by a son, Michael Patrick Riley and a sister Mary Creager. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory, to the South York County School District Foundation, (mark for John A. Riley Scholarship Fund) P.O. Box 128, Glen Rock, PA 17327-0128.
