Jesse Leonard Welch

Jesse L. Welch, 79, of York, passed away April 16, 2014 at Rest Haven –York Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Monday at the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home, 699 Highway 19 South, Bryson City NC. 28713 with Rev. Coy Adams, officiating. Burial will be in the Panther Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Monday at the Funeral Home. Jesse was born September 3, 1935 in Gastonia, NC and was a peacetime U.S. Army Veteran. He was employed as a millwright with Local #1548 and Carpenters Local #101, Baltimore. He is survived by his children; Darlene Kelly, Debra Duncan, Jesse Welch Jr., all of Greenville, SC, Diane Hix of Asheville, NC, and Claude Welch of Bristol TN; his Ex Wife Judith Sawyer of Greenville, SC; 17 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and two brothers Claude B. Welch and wife Rosetta Welch of Spring Grove, PA, and Don Welch and wife Teresa Welch of Severn, MD. He was preceded in death by his son, James Danial Welch; grandsons Devin and Jason Welch; and granddaughter Tina Bell.
