Jerry E. Sweitzer

Jerry E. Sweitzer Baltimore, MD Jerry E. Sweitzer, 65, of Baltimore, MD, passed away on August 25, 2018 at his home. He was born on July 23, 1953 in York, PA and was the son of the late Dean R. and Iona (Michael) Sweitzer. Jerry served as the president of his class at Kennard Dale High School. He attended The Pennsylvania State University, graduating with honors with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism. Additionally, Jerry obtained his Masters of Administrative Science Degree in Management from The Johns Hopkins University. Jerry worked in marketing and public relations at several organizations before beginning his job at Laureate Online Education. He served as Public Relations Manager there for 12 years. Jerry was the recipient of five awards in the American Public Transit Association's AdWheel Competition for advertising effectiveness. He was a gifted writer and artist, serving as illustration editor and photo researcher for "To the Setting of the Sun: The Story of York". He also authored the book's "Partners in Progress" chapter about area business and industry. Jerry loved animals, travel and visiting the beach. He always enjoyed spending time with his colleagues, family and dear friends. He is survived by an aunt, Charlotte A. Sweitzer of Shrewsbury, PA, a brother Ted M. Sweitzer and his wife Judy (Brenneman)Sweitzer of Pawleys Island, SC, a beloved niece Katrina (Sweitzer) Kinneer and her husband Gary of Camp Hill, and his two cats, Oliver and Darby. He will be missed by all who knew him. Following cremation, services will be private and made at the convenience of the family. Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock, PA, is assisting the family with these arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jerry's name to Heavenly Paws Animal Rescue in Seven Valleys, PA or to a local animal shelter or humane society.
