James L. Yoder, 69, York, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Inners Creek Rehabilitation in Dallastown.
Born, November 22, 1954, in South Bend, Indiana, he was the son of the late Jacob E. and Fanny J. Yoder. Jim graduated from Bronson High School in 1973. He served in the Army from 1974-1977.
Jim worked and retired from Matthews Casket after almost 26 years of service.
Jim grew up attending Locus Grove Mennonite Church in Michigan. After moving to Pennsylvania, he attended Living Word, Abundant Life Center, and Harvest Chapel. While attending ALC, he became involved in helping with the sound for the church services. When he left and started attending Harvest Chapel, he quickly became involved there as well. He would help with the sound system, as well as the cameras on Sundays and special events. Once he moved to Hanover, he became more involved with the church helping out wherever he was able to.
Jim is survived by his four children, Lori (Chad) Smoker of Sturgis, MI; Michael Yoder of Idaho; Christopher Myers of Johnson City, TN; Karen (Jared) Fray of York, PA; siblings, Donna (Charlie) Casper of LaGrange, IN and Robert Yoder of Wyoming, MI; and 5 grandchildren. Jim is also survived by his first ex-wife, Carol Yoder of Burr Oak, MI; and his second ex-wife, Sandra Yoder of Seven Valleys, PA. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Steven Lee Myers.
A celebration of life will be held at Harvest Chapel, 6947 York Rd., Abbottstown, on Friday, September 27. The viewing will be held at 9:00, with the service following at 11:00. Burial will follow at 1:00 at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
