James M. Amspacher, Sr. Codorus James M. Amspacher, Sr., 72, of Jefferson, died Thursday June 4, 2015 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Shirley M. (Archer) Amspacher with whom he would have celebrated a 49thwedding anniversary on July 2. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 6:00 PM Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Living Word Community Church, 2530 Cape Horn Road, Red Lion. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Wednesday at the church. There will be no viewing and burial will be private. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main Street, Glen Rock is assisting with the arrangements. Jim was born on September 15, 1942, in Hanover, a son of Ella L. (Lemmon) Amspacher of York and the late Edwin N. Amspacher. He graduated from Susquehannock High School in 1960 and had worked as a machine operator with Caterpillar, Inc. in York for over 24 years, retiring in 1998. He also had been a school bus driver, driving a Vo-Tech school bus run for Durham Bus Company and for the Spring Grove School District with the former Forry Bus Co. He served as a Constable in Jefferson and was a former member of the Jefferson Fire Company, served for many years as a Fire Policeman and was a member of the York County Fire Police Association. Jim also had been an umpire for several local baseball organizations and enjoyed playing Santa Claus at various family and friends parties and local community and organization events. Jim never went any place where he did not make a friend and was a friend to everyone. Besides his wife and mother, is leaves three children, Lisa Ann Amspacher of York, James M Amspacher Jr. and Charles E. Amspacher and his wife Jill, both of Spring Grove; six grandchildren, Ellie, Amber, Maddie, Tyler, Wyatt and Chase; three sisters, Dolores A. Thoman of Hanover, Peggy J. Shaffer and Linda L. Wolfe both of York, two brothers, Thomas L. Amspacher of the Villages, FL and Donald C. Amspacher of Landisville. He was predeceased by a baby daughter, and four brothers, Edwin, John, Robert and Richard “Dick” Amspacher. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to York County SPCA, 3159 N.
