James E. Hoover Glen Rock James E. Hoover, 86, of Glen Rock, died Wednesday March 30, 2016 at his home. He was the husband of Betty A. (Roser) Hoover. The couple were married for 64 years on January 26, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main Street, Glen Rock with Rev. Fred A. Walthour officiating. Burial will be in Trinity UCC Cemetery, Glen Rock. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Hoover was born in Glen Rock on September 25, 1929 and was a son of the late Emerson R. Hoover and Marguerite H. Neal and step son of the late Helen A. (Wolf) Hoover. Jim graduated from Glen Rock High School in 1947 and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. In his early years, he played baseball as a pitcher and outfielder with the Glen Rock Athletic Association Team. He had been drafted by the St. Louis Browns baseball team, only to return home after a short time to continue to work in his father’s business, Glen Traditionals Furniture Company. Jim worked at and had owned Glen Traditionals for 39 years, from the age of 18 until selling the business in 1986, serving as President of the company for many of those years. Following which he worked part time with his son’s company Hoover Manufacturing in Glen Rock until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of Trinity UCC Church, Glen Rock, the Austin L. Grove American Legion Post #403 and was a former member of the Glen Rock Carolers Association from 1956 until 1971. Besides his wife, he also leaves, a daughter, Connie V. Alban and Her husband Brian; a son, James H. Hoover and his wife Lisa both of Glen Rock; three Grandchildren, Nicole Louey and her husband Ben, Jennifer Schneider and her husband Matthew and Andrea Hoover; four great grandchildren, Nicholas, Carly and Elijah Louey and Audrey Schneider. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Carol Ann Hoover and a sister R. Jean Warner.
