James Clifford Bensel

November 25, 1934 — December 21, 2021

On Tuesday, December 21, 2021, James C. Bensel, 87, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy (Taylor) Bensel. James was born on November 25, 1934 in York to the late William L. and Louise Bensel. He was part of the first graduating class of Susquehannock High School in 1952, and then went on to work for AMP, Inc. until retiring. James was also an active member of New Hope (Fissel's) UCC. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and bowling. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two children, Barry Bensel and his wife Terry, and Bonnie Zemo and her husband, Peter; two grandchildren, Nicole Snyder and husband Micah and Leah Sergent and husband Charles; and three great-grandchildren, Noah Shannon, Hunter Snyder, and Isabella Sergent. He is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Belinda Bensel Hershey; and five siblings, Bill Bensel, Lillian Heusner, Mary Fissel, Howard Bensel and Connie Wise. Public viewing will be held on Monday, December 27 from 10am until a funeral service begins at 11am at New Hope Fissel's UCC, 3426 Fissel's Church Road, Glen Rock. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Steltz Church Cemetery, Glen Rock, 17327. Pastor David Stewart will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in James' memory are recommended to New Hope Fissel's UCC at the address above. An online guestbook is available at www.geiple.com.
